Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO of Retail Council of Canada
Diane has held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Retail Council of Canada (RCC) since 1995.
Retail Council is the largest retail association in the country representing more than 45,000 brick-and-mortar and online retail establishments of all shapes and sizes from coast to coast. RCC`s membership covers all retail segments including general merchandise, grocery and pharmacy and accounts for more than 75% of all retail sales in the country excluding auto and gas sales.
In her role as President and CEO of RCC Diane has executive responsibility for government relations, media relations, education and events, industry research, membership growth and member services.
Prior to joining RCC, Diane held the position of President and CEO of the Canadian Office Products Association, which represented the retail and supplier community in the office products, office furniture and office equipment sectors. She held that position for 14 years.
Diane served as the Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) in the late nineties and received the Pinnacle Award in 2002 in recognition of her exceptional leadership and outstanding contribution to the association community.
Diane was recognized in 2016 by the University of Alberta School of Retailing for her work in advancing Retail as a Career in Canada.
In addition, Diane served as Chairman of the Board of the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (Ottawa), the Fair Factory Clearinghouse (New York) and The Forum of International Retail Association Executives (Washington).
She currently serves as a Director on the Board of the Toronto Region Board of Trade, the Quebec Employers Council, Stewardship Ontario, and the Advisory Boards of the St. Mary’s David Sobey Centre for Retail, and the School of Retailing at the University of Alberta. A native of Montreal she now resides in in Toronto.
