Joey Longo
Chief Development Officer, Longo's
Joey found his passion for the produce side of the business at a very young age and obtained his DZ license so he could learn the ropes at the Ontario Food Terminal. Since then, he has learned the business from all angles. Has held the position of Executive VP of Fresh Merchandising, responsible for produce, bulk foods, meat and seafood, Chief Operating Officer, responsible for Operations, Specialty Retail and Project Management and most recently, Joey was appointed Chief Development Officer in 2015. In this role, he is responsible for store growth, leading new store development, real estate, facilities and property management, along with a newly created centralized procurement and services function. Currently, Longo has 37 retail locations and an on-line grocery business, Grocery Gateway.
Joey has shared his knowledge and experience with other grocery retailers, serving on the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers as a Board of Director and as Chair. He is actively involved in philanthropy as a Trustee on the Longo’s Family Foundation and he has served as an Honourary Co-Chair of Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer since 2011, leading Longo’s to be one of the top fundraisers for the event.
Joey and his wife, Donna have four children – Jesse, Lucas, (Stefania, Daughter-in-Law), Justin, Riana and three four-legged family members – Koda, Rocky and Michelob. Joey became a proud grandfather in 2019, welcoming his grandson, James Longo to the family. In his spare time, Joey is an avid golfer and loves spending time in Florida with his family and friends.
