A seasoned business executive with more than 25 years of CEO leadership across multiple industries, Michael is known for proactive, collaborative stakeholder engagement and consistent corporate results. Since joining the organization in 2016 and leading its 2020 merger with Consumer Health Products Canada, he has repositioned it into a driving force on the sector’s defining issues, from Canada-U.S. trade and tariffs to supply chain resilience, food security, regulatory modernization and environmental sustainability.
Michael was instrumental in the creation of the Canada Grocery Code, which established national standards for fair dealing across the grocery supply chain. He served as founding Chair of the Board of Directors of the Office of the Grocery Sector Code of Conduct from its incorporation in 2023 until late 2025, guiding the Code from concept to national implementation with the participation of all major grocers. A trusted voice on food and consumer policy, he is regularly called to appear before Parliamentary committees and is frequently sought by national media for perspective on emerging industry issues. He also serves on the Ontario Food Panel Advisory Committee.
Before joining FHCP, Michael was President of Parq Holdings and spent six years leading the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, building it into a recognized leader in the global gaming and entertainment industry. His board and community service has included the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity, the Global Self-Care Federation, Vice Chair of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the 2014 Grey Cup in Vancouver. His industry honours include the 2025 Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers Lifetime Achievement Award and induction into the Grocery Business Hall of Fame in 2024.
